Nepali signboards!

DSC03918

A cat passes beneath the mural of a squirrel with his backback of acorns and colorful Tibetan prayer flags that pass in front of Fishtail Mountain (Machhupuchre) and paragliders.   The restaurant advert at top is made of the new-fangled vinyl flex.

Many, many people in Nepal are still illiterate, and then again, many foreigners don't read Nepali either!

This ladies room icon deserves more respect than this!

Her partner across the hall got a bit of a haircut himself.   He is wearing a traditional topi, still a common sight on the men of Nepal.

This is from Kathmandu, but it illustrates what I will miss when these new flex signboards take over.   The big hand-painted signboard in the background perfectly captures the traditional themes:  Mountains, motorcycles, and tourists spending money.

There are a couple versions of this signboard in the Ranipawa area of Pokhara, all done by the same artist and in varying state of decay.   And they all say "Be Aware of Dog".

You will be happy you did!

Stay tuned.   More tomorrow.

Now is the time to order:   Be ahead of the Pack!

I am back in Nepal for the 9th Danger Dog trip and am accepting commissions now.   I'll be back to the states in early June, just in time for Father's Day presents.

HOW TO ORDER

To order, please send me a photo of your pet.   I will give it to three different artists, giving you a choice of paintings and three people will get work.   Each painting is about one square foot and is on metal with synthetic enamel paint.   These can be hung indoors or out, be framed or unframed.

Satisfaction is guaranteed as I accept no money up front.   If you do not like one of the three, you pay nothing, and the 3 artists are paid in full in any case.   Let me know what you want it to say and that's it!

Send your photo to ampage1@gmail.com or find out more at www.NepalDog.com.

Let's keep these artists painting.
