Nepal Art Dogs to Exhibit in San Diego

San Diego Danger Dog fans are in luck.   The Nepal Art Dogs will be on exhibit in North Park at the Protea Gallery as part of the group exhibit 'Nocturne'.

I have been having fun thinking of pieces that will fit into the theme of "Nocturne".   Notice that this exhibit will coincide with Ray at Night, a popular North Park Art Walk.

My first obvious choice is Giggles the Tuxedo Cat by Sagar Bitsa.   But when I called the Craft and Folk Art Museum to check on her, she was sold.   That is always good news!

Dilip Topper Norwich Terrier2
Topper is a Norwich Terrier sweetly tucked away in his monogrammed sheets, as hand painted by Dilip Niroj.    Dilip simply added his signature where the monogram had been.

Hunting Cat by Nara
What could be more nocturnal than a 'Hunting Cat'?   Chocolate Chip was hand painted on metal by Nara in Kathmandu.   This one is in the 'Nocturne' running.

There is something dark and lovely about this portrait of Lula, a Burmese Cat from Britain.   What appears to be a blue 1940's looking sweetheart neckline is in reality his owner's socks.

It seems it is easier to find examples of Danger Cats to fit the theme.

I am having fun thinking about the subject matter and will try to not be too literal.

The Nepal Art Dogs were also on display last week, as part of a new art fair called the Downtown LA Artists Farmer's Market (DTLA AFM).

The Danger Dogs looked good up on the bright blue wall and the Fair Trade Art project was introduced to many new fans.

It was a 3-day exhibit and the promoters intend to make it a monthly event.   If you would like to participate in the next show, please contact the curator Sandra Canchola at   The new venue is at 1548 S. Central in downtown LA and is just off the 10 freeway at the Central exit.
