Live from Kathmandu: Final Days

Folk art Papillion
Henry the Papillion

Henry the Papillion shines in his final three by Indra Lama, Sagar Bitsa and Dilip Niroj (clockwise from top left).

Folk art Dog
Ruby Sue the Terrier Mix

Ruby Sue is a late addition to the orders and she turned out fine!  Here she is hand painted on metal by Megh Raj, Indra and Dilip (clockwise from top left).   What an alert face she has.

Folk art Cats hand painted on metal
Besita and Hermano's final three

Besita and Hermano are hand painted by Sagar, Dilip and Megh Raj.   Another hard choice.

Folk art Spaniel
Molly Anne the Spaniel's final three

Molly Anne is a young beauty here, only a pup, and the three portraits are very pretty indeed.  By Sagar, Megh Raj and Nara (clockwise from top left).

Folk art Rat Terriers
Mikki and Minnie the Rat Terriers

Mikki and Minnie are a very nice pair as they lounge in their portraits by Sagar, Megh Raj and Sanjib.

Please let me know what you think!

At this time, I can no longer accept orders for this trip.   Please send me photos for spring/summer trip in 2014.

Orders no longer being accepted for the November 2013 trip.  I will be back in early December 2013 in plenty of time to mail holiday orders.

1. Please send me a photo of your pet.  I will give it to three different artists, giving you a choice of 3 paintings and three people will get work.   Each painting is about one square foot and is on metal with synthetic enamel paint.   These can be hung indoors or out.

2. Let me know what you would like it to say.

3. Let me know what style of portrait you would prefer:   naive, realistic, colorful, etc.

4. Tell me your pet's name and breed.

5. Send your photo to me at:   ampage1@gmail.com
That's it !

Satisfaction is guaranteed as I accept no money up front.   If you do not like one of the three, you pay nothing, and the 3 artists are paid in full in any case.   Let me know what you want it to say and that's it!

The cost is $250 plus shipping.   Shipping is around $18 per sign (to and from the US).   And 9.75% California sales tax for California residents.
Pay after choosing your portrait.
Multiple pets on one sign cost more ($325 for Double, $400 for Triple).

Let's keep these artists painting.

This hand-painted art form is fast disappearing in Kathmandu, as it already has in most parts of the world.   I pay fair trade wages, the artists get to paint again, pet lovers get a choice of three paintings for each commission, and I get to help Nepali artists make a living.   Everybody is happy.   Rescue dogs from America get to rescue artists from Nepal!

Live from Kathmandu: Which would you choose?

Finals are coming in (not so) fast and furious.   Here are some pets with their final three.   Which would you choose?

Folk art Chocolate Labrador
Roubaix the Chocolate Lab

Roubaix by Indra, Dilip and Sagar (clockwise from top left) show how differently the artists interpret the same photo.

Folk art American Exotic Cat
Mr B's three finals by Sagar, Megh Raj and Nara (clockwise from top left)

Small, medium and large seem to be the order of the day with Mr. B, a handsome American Exotic Cat.

Folk art Pomeranian
Polar the Pomeranian by Sagar, Megh Raj and Indra (clockwise from top left)

Apparently there is more than one Little Prince in this kingdom.   Polar looks handsome in all three of these.

Folk art Akita
Kuma the Akita by Dilip, Nara and Sagar (clockwise from top left)

Kuma had a change of photo mid-stream.   He is protected by a golden halo by Sagar and looks intently into the distance in his portraits by Dilip and Nara.

Folk art Black Labrador
Cupcake the Black Lab by Nara, Dilip & Sagar (clockwise from top left)

Cupcake final three hand painted on metal.   This will be a hard choice!

folk art chow mix
Tetley the Chow mix by Nara, Dilip & Sagar (clockwise from top left)

Lastly, today, we have Tetley, who looks like he is all dog.   Again, we have very different interpretations, they are very different and I like them all in their own way.

Which would you choose if these were your pets?

Sagar is putting the finishing touches on Stella.   Only a few more to pick up later today.

More tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

Live from Kathmandu: Three of a kind!

Folk Art Bichon Frisee
Hermione and Neville and their final portraits

Hermione the Bichon Frisee and her cohort Neville look comfy on the couch in their final portraits (by Sagar Bitsa, Megh Raj Thapa and Sanjib Rana - clockwise from top left).

Australian Shepherd folk art
Tank the Australian Shepherd in 3 different moods!

Tank the Australian Shepherd was a hit with his bright eyes and colorful scarf.  His portraits are by Dilip Niroj, Nara and Sagar (clockwise from top left).

Folk art white dog
Rolf and his 3 finals

Rolf will make a handsome holiday gift.   His three finals are by Megh Raj, Sagar and Indra (clockwise from top left).   These are all hand painted on metal.

Folk art Australian Shepherd
Romeo times three.

Romeo the Australian Shepherd looks happy in his three portraits of a dog on a hike!   By Sagar, Nara and Dilip (clockwise from top left) there are some hard choices ahead.

Folk art Terrier
Pepper the Terrier in 3 final portraits

Sagar, Indra and Nara (clockwise from top left) did a fine job capturing Pepper the Terrier.   It amazes me how different the same photo can turn out in the hands of three artists.

Folk art Dalmation
Tasha the Dalmation as the angel she is.

Last but not least, we have Tasha the Dalmation with her big smile.   By Nara, Dilip and Megh Raj Thapa (clockwise from top left) she is glowing.

More tomorrow.

Stay tuned.
