I am in Nepal right now and accepting orders.

Since there is expected political unrest in Nepal in November, please get your orders in early...

Now is the time to order:   Be ahead of the Pack!   Orders now being accepted for the November 2015 trip.  I will be back in early December 2015 in plenty of time to mail holiday orders.

1. Please send me a photo of your pet.  I will give it to three different artists, giving you a choice of 3 paintings and three people will get work.   Each painting is about one square foot and is on metal with synthetic enamel paint.   These can be hung indoors or out.

2. Let me know what you would like it to say.

3. Let me know what style of portrait you would prefer:   naive, realistic, colorful, etc.

4. Tell me your pet's name and breed.

5. Send your photo to me at:   ampage1@gmail.com
That's it !

Satisfaction is guaranteed as I accept no money up front.   If you do not like one of the three, you pay nothing, and the 3 artists are paid in full in any case.   Let me know what you want it to say and that's it!

The cost is $250 plus shipping.   Shipping is around $18 per sign (to and from the US).   And 9.75% California sales tax for California residents.
Pay after choosing your portrait.
Multiple pets on one sign cost more ($325 for Double, $400 for Triple).

Let's keep these artists painting.

This hand-painted art form is fast disappearing in Kathmandu, as it already has in most parts of the world.   I pay fair trade wages, the artists get to paint again, pet lovers get a choice of three paintings for each commission, and I get to help Nepali artists make a living.   Everybody is happy.   Rescue dogs from America get to rescue artists from Nepal!

Repairs to a Nepali earthquake victim's home
Repairs to Mr. Maharjan's house

Mr Maharjan, Nara's manager, suffered major damage to his home in the April 2015 earthquake.   A kind customer from the Santa Barbara area donated a good sum of money for him to rebuild his 150-year-old family home.  He showed me this photo on his phone of some of the repairs that were made with that money.   His daughter called me on the phone and thanked me profusely for helping their family.

This is the first final that I have seen of Rocco, a black and white Domestic Short Hair.   I can't wait to see the others.

Folk art beware of Cavapoo sign hand painted on metal in Nepal
Zelda the Cavapoo by Indra

Zelda the Cavapoo must rule the roost, as she is the 'Queen of the House'.   She looks great hand painted on metal.

Folk art white sheep dog hand painted on metal by a sign painter in Nepal
Bianca and Sean by Indra

Bianca and play in the grass in their final portrait by Indra.

Folk art beware of dog portrait of a bouvier de Flandres and Boston Terrier dog.

Folk art beware of dog portraits hand painted on metal in Nepal
Waiting to dry under the laundry

Indra and his family are still living in a tent over 6 months after April's devastating earthquake.   He and his family have erected a large tent where they await money to reconstruct their home near Boudha.

Nepali Boxer and German Shepherd
What a lovely Boxer!

One of my favorite parts of coming to see Indra is to pet his beautiful brindle Boxer, his pretty German Shepherd and a cute but shy Yellow Labrador.

Stay tuned.   More finals are on their way.

Live from Kathmandu: Nara's finals

I got some great new finals from Nara yesterday.  You are in for a treat.

Folk art portraits of a dog and a cat on a temple in Kathmandu
Frankie and Basie drying on a temple

It was a pleasure to come across these two drying on a Hindu temple outside Nara's studio.   Frankie the Zen Kitty and Basie look great in their holy space.

Folk art Black Lab Dog hand painted on metal by a sign painter in Kathmandu
Jet, a Black Lab, and his Danger Dog portrait by Nara

Jet is a rambunctious and well behaved Black Labrador and he shines in this final by Nara.

Folk art portrait of a pit bull pug hand painted on metal in Nepal
Daisy a 3-legged Pit Bull Pug by Nara

Daisy (not Datsy) is lovely in her first final by Nara.  The lettering on this will be changed.   I am not sure whether it is due to my horrible handwriting or lack of attention on the part of Mr. Maharjan, but it will be fixed.

Folk art Beware of Cavalier King Spaniel hand painted on metal in Nepal
Brody the Cavalier King Spaniel by Nara

Brody the Cavalier King Spaniel looks nice against the blue background that Nara always uses.

Folk art Beware of Tervuren hand painted on metal in Nepal
Argos the Tervuren and his final by Nara

Argos is my first Tervuren and he is such a handsome example.   It is a Belgian breed, and I recently met one at the Mar Vista Farmer's Market.   He was so soft and lovely.
