St Roch, patron saint of dogs, with a Foxhound and a Beagle
St Roch with Chester and Cooper by Sagar

This is going to be an interesting painting.   Here Sagar has St Roch, patron saint of dogs, gently cradling Chester and Cooper, a Foxhound and a Beagle, in his arms and at his side.  The angels hovering above add another nice element.

This is a very early version, but you can see its wonderful scope.  I can't wait to see this one in living color!

Live from Kathmandu: Works in Progress from Megh Raj

Megh Raj Thapa has been busy with his commissions.  A very detailed and empathetic painter, you can tell he loves animals by these works.

Flint, aka Pudding Face Flint, is a handsome Mastiff and Megh Raj has captured his magnificent facial folds.

Gotham the Black Standard Poodle hand painted on metal by Megh Raj

Gotham the Black Standard Poodle will have his head rounded, as the photo cut off his top curls.   Megh Raj looks like he enjoyed painting that tongue and teeth.   It is part of a classic Nepali Beware of Dog sign to include a tongue, and Gotham's really fills the bill.

Folk art portrait of a German Shepherd hand painted on metal in Nepal
Tattoo the German Shepherd by Megh Raj

Tattoo, a lovely German Shepherd, in his work in progress by Megh Raj.   Megh Raj paints his figures first and then adds the backgrounds.

Folk art portrait of a Border Collie mix hand painted on metal in Nepal

Scout, a pretty rescue dog, is looking very good in her work in progress by Megh Raj Thapa.

Folk art Cat hand painted on metal by a sign painter in Nepal

Simon, a big and expressive Tabby Cat, has beautiful eyes, captured here by Megh Raj.

Folk art portrait of a Mastiff hand painted on metal in Nepal
Titus the Mastiff hand painted on metal by Megh Raj.

Titus the Mastiff has a wonderful profile.  Captured here by Megh Raj, I like seeing the colors used to get his brindle coat.   Who would have expected blue?

Folk art portrait of St. Roch, patron saint of dogs
St. Roch, Patron Saint of Dogs by Megh Raj Thapa

St. Roch, the Patron Saint of Dogs, is off to a good start here.  Chester and Cooper, a Foxhound and Beagle, will be added in the foreground when this painting is done.  Apologies for the bad focus on this one.   I took all of these photos in the dark hallway outside of Megh Raj' studio.    But it is clear as day in person.
