Which Would You Choose? Feed

Three of a kind! Which would you choose?

Who could choose which is best?   Usually it is because it looks the most like the pet.  There is always the option of buying all 3.  There are some hard choices ahead.  Here is the chance to see them all together.   When 3 artists get the same photo, it is interesting to see the difference and similarities.

Please stay tuned for more finals to come! If you would like to have your dog (cat, horse, chicken, bunny, bearded dragon, etc.) immortalized on metal here in Nepal, it is now too late.

I will return in the autumn of 2022, leaving plenty of time to deliver holiday gifts.

You choose the style, the color, what you would like the sign to say... You can also check out NepalDog.com, as I have over 72 breeds of dog (and counting) and many cats.

I pay fair trade wages, the artists get to paint again, pet lovers get a choice of three paintings for each commission, and I get to help Nepali artists make a living.

Everybody is happy.   Rescue dogs from America get to rescue artists from Nepal!

HOW TO ORDER:  To order, please send me a photo of your pet.   I will give it to three different artists, giving you a choice of 3 paintings and three artists will get work.   Each painting is about one square foot and is on metal with synthetic enamel paint.   These can be hung indoors or out, be framed or unframed.

While I am in Nepal, your pet will be featured on the Danger Dog Blog, as I stop into the artists' studios and document the works in progress.

Satisfaction is guaranteed as I accept no money up front.   If you do not like one of the three, you pay nothing, and the 3 artists are paid in full in any case.   Let me know what you want it to say and that's it!

Send your photo to [email protected] or find out more at www.NepalDog.com.

Let's keep these artists painting. American Dogs = Nepali Jobs.

Folk art beware of Attorney hand painted on metal in Nepal
The beautiful Helen by Megh Raj Thapa

Being sign painters, the artists of Nepal are available to paint anything you might like, including this lovely portrait of a Danger Attorney.   I only do one choice of human portraits.   I think Megh Raj did a fine job.   Megh Raj agreed that she is very beautiful.   I chose Megh Raj because of the very pretty beauty shop signs I have seen him paint in the past, when they still did hand painted beauty shop signs.

To see what else the Nepali artists have painted for this fair trade art project, please see this page on my website, NepalDog.com.   The only limit is your imagination.

Stay tuned.   More adventures in Nepal are sure to follow, along with more finals and 3-of-a-kind portraits.  See all 3 finals alongside each other and try to choose among them!

Which would you choose? New finals from the Danger Dogs

The best time of the trip for me is when I can see and compare the 3 very different portraits of the same pet.    Looking at the details such as how they do the eyes, the paws, the fur, the background is just too much fun.

Live from Kathmandu: Three-of-a-Kind

Things are getting to be a full house around here as the 10th Danger Dog trip from Nepal winds down.

IMG_4514
We start with a late entry, Maple, a lovely Pit Bull by Megh Raj.   The artists were all taken with Maple's striking pose and especially the dramatic Oregon waterfall in the background.

IMG_4527
Russell the Chihuahua is certainly a dramatic Danger Dog in his first portrait by Baba.   Not yet dry, this one packs a wallop.

IMG_4535
Magic and Marley's final three are finally here.   By Baba, Dilip Niroj and Sagar (clockwise from top left), these two make a striking pair.

IMG_4536
The magnificent Archie, a Bull Dog who enjoys the surf, frolics in his portraits by Megh Raj, Baba and Sagar (clockwise from top left).  Who could choose?   I find it interesting that Baba is the only one of the three that has ever seen the ocean here in land-locked Nepal, and his ocean is brown and turgid.  Baba hails originally from Tamil Nadu in Southern India and was there for the tsunami in 2004. Having lost family and his home, perhaps he sees the ocean differently.  Sagar's name means 'ocean' in Nepali, and he signs his name with the Japanese chop that means 'Ocean' in Japanese.

IMG_4534
Bella and her final three choices by Baba, Dilip and Sagar (clockwise from top left).

IMG_4530
I'm just wild about Harry in his final three choices by Megh Raj Thapa, Sagar and Baba (clockwise from top left).

IMG_4531
Abba the Doberman Pinscher with her final three by Baba, Dilip Niroj and Sagar (clockwise from top left).

The final choice is most often which portrait looks most like the dog in question.   But artistically, this can be a hard choice.

The deadline is here.   Please send in photos for your order for the next trip.   I leave in early 2012.  However, I have many, many portraits already made of many breeds of pet.   Please ask!!!

This may be the perfect gift.   Give someone you love a portrait of someone they love, and in the meantime support this dying art form.

Now is the time to order:    Each commission I receive will be given to 3 different Nepalese signboard artists, giving 3 struggling artists Fair Trade work and you a choice of 3 colorful paintings on metal!

Your satisfaction is guaranteed as I accept no money up front, only if you like one of the portraits do you pay.   The artists are paid fair trade wages whether you buy or not.

How to Order:

1. Send a photo of your pet to me at [email protected].

2.  Let me know what you would like the signboard to say.

3. Tell me which style of Danger Dog art you prefer, by giving me examples of signs you have liked on the website or just say whether you like realistic, naive, cartoonish or fanciful.

4. Follow the Danger Dog Blog and see the works in progress, trips to the studios, the life and arts of Nepal.

5.  Decide which painting you prefer of the 3 and send me a check and I will mail you your very own personal Danger Dog (or Cat)!

Pricing, more information and examples of the Nepal Art Dog project can be found at NepalDog.com.
